Childhood
I was born and grew up in Brazil as a missionary kid. Florianopolis was home until my dad died in a car accident and changed my perspective on life. My parents had moved to a foreign country and dedicated their life to serving others, something that grows deep into the roots of my soul and impacted me in far reaching ways.
Through the death of my dad, I knew, even as a teenager, my purpose in life was also to serve and help others. The more I dive into the teachings of yoga, Reiki, plant medicine, and Ayurveda, I see my purpose, my dharma, in a whole new and very different way than I would have ever imagined as a teenager.
Beginning My Yoga Practice
I began practicing yoga off and on throughout college and in my twenties. However, it wasn’t until a friend {who I eventually married} asked me about teaching yoga and opening up a studio together, that I began to realize how much I loved the practice. During the 2011 recession, I decided to take a step of faith and start my yoga teacher journey through Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja.
Let me tell you, that experience changed my perspective not only on what life looked like, but also how all my beliefs were actually coming together during a time that all felt very unsure and disconnected. That’s a topic for a whole different day. Let’s just say, nothing is separate and the practice of yoga opened my awareness to how connected and limitless we all are.
Infusing my teachings and life with plant alchemy
After teaching for about a year, students began gifting me essential oils. They seemed great at the time, but after a while went rancid. Not to mention, since I wasn’t educated in how to use oils, I hurt students with some pretty hot oils {eek!}. Which, made me research, dig deeper, and think more about quality. I’d love to share what I learned and why I chose doTERRA for more than just aromatherapy in a yoga class.
I now bring these little bottles into class according to what feels most supportive energetically for the students or with a specific chakra focus. Sometimes we’ll use a blend called Breathe for pranayama, while other times the Balance blend helps ground after a chaotic day, and Serenity is especially sweet during savasana.
Reiki Master Training
In November 2019, I met Celestial By Crystal. I had experienced reiki sessions before, but none that brought me so intune with myself. She guided me through mentoring and eventually trained me to my Reiki Master. (All this happened during the 2020 pandemic). So much unraveling has happened for all of us, and these practices have helped me stay in my heart’s truth.
Current life explorations
Currently in 2021, I am pursuing my certification as an Ayurvedic Health Counselor + Tantric Teacher. I am excited to already integrate more of these ancient Feminine teachings of wisdom, health, and self-care in my classes and private sessions.
