Root Chakra

All About the Root Chakra

Experience more Vitality + Presence + Safety

The Root Chakra is all about our foundation and being in the present moment, the “right now”. It’s our fight/flight/freeze response. It’s how we feel safe, secure, stable, and comfortable, and {just like roots} how we receive nourishment from the earth and life-force energy {prana}.

If you commonly feel fear + anxiety + depression, then you might be experiencing a root chakra block in relation to how your other chakras are working.

What does a Balanced Root Chakra look like?

Grounded, rooted in reality, physical ease, security, comfort. Prosperity, common sense, energetic, reliable, motivated, adventurous, able to manifest, able to be calm, in-the-moment, or be the eye-of-the-storm.

    Common imbalances:

    Fast + Over Active:

Receiving more than giving, feeling hot, heavy, and tired, hypochondria, paranoia, excessive spending, laziness, fatigue, fear of change, obsession with safety/security, rigid boundaries, overeating, overweight, greed, hoarding, excessive materiality, impatience, OCD, tight quadriceps, achilles tendonitis, tight IT band, bunions,

    Slow + Under Active/Depleted:

Giving more than receiving, spaciness, disconnected, underweight, fear, anxiety, lack of focus, no follow-through, self-destructiveness, addiction, sense of being unlovable, masochistic, suicidal, not wanting to be here, passivity, floating, financial lack, poor boundaries, disorganization, tight hamstrings, constipation, arthritis, bladder issues

Sometimes injuries present themselves when we need to bring a chakra back into harmony. For instance, if you’re constantly stubbing your toe, then you might need to ground yourself by slowing down and getting more present.

How To Balance Your Root Chakra

Use aromatherapy on your body or room, hold + carry crystals with you, use colors in your food, clothes, visualizations, listen to sound healing for vibrational alignment, use your senses to engage active sensations, repeat affirmations and Reiki to bring your root chakra back into harmony with your energy system. How To Keep You Chakras in Harmony

Keeping your physical, emotional, spiritual, and energetic bodies working optimally also requires you to pay attention to it daily. Here are a few questions you can ask yourself:

    1. How is my body doing?
    2. What am I really feeling?
    3. How are my energy levels?
    4. Is my heart open?
    5. Am I expressing myself?
    6. How is my brain?
    7. Am I connected?
